As the third largest town in the state of Perak, Malaysia, Teluk Intan is a place with a rich history solidified by ancient landmarks and friendly people. On September 1, 2018, a grand free vegetarian tasting event was held at the beautiful town one week after the Guan Yin Citta Buddhist Practice Center in Teluk Intan grandly opened on August 26, 2018. The event was part of the series free vegetarian tasting events organized by the Guan Yin Citta Buddhist Association of Malaysian, aiming to promote Vegetarianism and the Buddhist teachings from Master Jun Hong Lu.

The event was a huge success, with attendance of over 1,300 local people and more than 400 volunteers participated. These volunteers were from different places of Malaysia, ranging from East Malaysia to West Malaysia, such as Sarawak Kuching, Sibu, Kuala Lumpur, Klang, Puchong, Johor Bahru, Muar, Kluang, Yongping, Segamat, Selangor Seremban and Malacca.

In the early morning at around 8:00am, all the volunteers arrived at the San Min Independent High School to prepare for the event. Through 9 hours hard work, the event officially started in the late afternoon at 5:00 pm. Within a very short period of time, the main meeting hall was full of people from nearby neighborhoods and communities. To accommodate the overflow, another meeting hall was arranged with the big screens and service facilities fully set up.

The dazzling and delicious variety of vegetarian cuisines was full of flavor and provided tasty meatless options. Diverse dishes, ranging from Dongpo meat, Malay satay, siu mai, Xiaolongbao, to Gucheng G rice ball, stuffed tofu, Nasi Biryani, red sauce pasta, Burmese salad, Gongbao golden flower, and fruit tarts, could be found and enjoyed for free. While eating, the attendees watched amazing video clips from Master Jun Hong Lu’s Dharma Talks and Totem Inquiry. These fascinating Totem cases revealed the real existence of Karma and the Law of Cause and Effect, which educated the attendees and teached them that there is another Buddhist way to live their lives.

From Buddhist view, becoming vegetarian is the main approach to cultivate compassion and refrain from killing. Master Jun Hong Lu has ever said, “Compassion will resolve all your troubles. When you are annoying someone, or you’re having something upset, it is mainly because that you have not forgiven others. If you let go of the resentment and forgive others, you will open yourselves up to practicing compassion and love. Compassionate people have a level of inner courage to forgive others, which leads to resolving afflictions and trouble. “In order to achieve peace and social harmony in the world, restore the balance of mind, let us cultivate compassion and practice giving.

Propagation activities in Boston promote upcoming Public Talk by Master Jun Hong Lu in New York

20180809-Boston-GuanYinCitta-Dharma-Propagation-5

From August 9 to 12, 2018, a group of 40 Buddhist practitioners from New York, Philadelphia, Los Angeles, Phoenix, Vancouver, Toronto, Ann Arbor, Dublin, and Beijing gathered at the city center of Boston, launched series of Dharma propagation activities to promote Guan Yin Citta Dharma Door and Buddhist Master Jun Hong Lu’s Dharma Talk in New York on October 14, 2018. The series of propagations achieved full success, with over 2000 flyers handed out and lots of free newspapers, Buddhist books, vegetarian cookbooks, DVDs, and free admission tickets of the Dharma Talk distributed.

The propagation activities in Boston once more witnessed the miracle of group effort and collective strength. Under the guidance of Master Jun Hong Lu’s teachings, practitioners were honestly practicing the core values of Buddhism with the right faith and right understanding. Although the weather in Boston was inclement, heavy rain falling all through the days, every practitioner lifted their spirits and walked through the streets of Chinese communities and neighborhoods, distributing flyers and books. Every night, all the Buddhist practitioners gathered together at a meeting room to learn Master Jun Hong Lu’s teachings from the books of Buddhism in Plain Terms and then they held heated discussions. The short 3-day gathering closely bonded all the practitioners together with the exchange of heartfelt practice experiences and the share of the great common aspiration of spreading the wisdom of Buddhism to more sentient beings.

On August 12, 2018, the propagation reached its climax. By setting up a booth in a heavy-traffic area in the center of Chinatown, large crowds were attracted, coming up to learn about the Guan Yin Citta and details of the Public Talk in New York. Surprisingly, some of them have already started the practice of reciting Buddhist scriptures. They expressed their wishes of having a Guan Yin Citta Chapter in Boston to practice together and provide spiritual support. One of the pedestrians said, “It’s so great to know that Master Jun Hong Lu will visit New York again. Six years ago, I and my family attended Master Lu’s Public Talk at Harvard University. It’s a wonderful experience and benefited me a lot in the aspects of work, family and health. I really hope Master Jun Hong Lu will visit Boston again in the near future. ” The overwhelming response from the local Chinese community surprised every brother, inspiring them to work even harder in the propagation. To better service the local Buddhist friends, the Boston practice group even provided free round trip shuttle buses between Boston and New York for all the friends who want to join the event. It’s quite gratifying that at the end of the propagation, quite a number of people registered and reserved the seats of the bus.

Master Jun Hong Lu has ever said in the Dharma Talk of Brisbane 2018 that “As a Buddhist practitioner bravely riding the wind and waves on the sea of life to transmit Dharma, it’s crucial to bear the loving kindness, compassion, joy and equanimity in mind.” This extraordinary campaign in Boston does exemplify the teachings of Master Jun Hong Lu and transmit the core values of Buddhism. Wish the coming New York Dharma Talk a huge success and deliver more sentient beings!

Wisdom comes from a heart full of compassion. It is the compassion that leads to kindness and giving.

On August 7, 2018, around 4pm in the afternoon, volunteers from UK Guan Yin Citta Buddhist Charity Foundation organized a Free Fruit Giveaway activity at Charing Cross Station to transmit love and serve the community. The station is a central London railway terminal surrounded by Chinatown, Trafalgar Square and River Thames, acting as one of the busiest stations in UK to provide the majority of commuter and regional services to south-east London.

During the rush hour, crowds were ebbing and flowing like a tide in this area. Many people are busily running for their lives, exhausted and tired. Like the breeze in summer, giving fruits to these metro riders can not only boost their energy, but also bring them a sense of freshness and relaxation. All the volunteers from UK Guan Yin Citta were uniformly in the vibrant red color Polo T-shirts, passing out apples and oranges to the crowd with smiles. The fresh fruits attracted many people’s attentions and made it’s easier to build a conversation between volunteers and pedestrians. Many people received fruits expressed their gratitude to volunteers and UK Guan Yin Citta for their amazing kindness and selfless giving. During the period of 45 minutes propagation, there were 230 apples distributed for free and quite a number of flyers handed out.

As a charity registered under the UK charity association, UK Guan Yin Citta has been committed to improving community harmony and promoting Buddhism. The Free Fruit Giveaway is just one of the good attempts to transmit compassion and love through the practice of selflessness and giving. These virtues are vigorously advocated by Buddhist Master Jun Hong Lu in his public talks and books. Moreover, UK Guan Yin Citta has been constantly promoting vegetarianism by regularly holding free vegetarian events in the communities.

In spite of the fact that volunteers’ good deeds may seem small, their ripple effects are essentially far-reaching and lasting. Master Jun Hong Lu has been emphasizing the Buddha’s teaching that “Cultivate all good, avoid all evils, and to purify one’s mind”. With the residence of loving kindness, compassion, joy and equanimity in every action and intention, the liberated state of mind and supreme bliss are not unattainable.

More than 230 Buddhist friends and 45 volunteers attended this gathering and spent a memorable day at Guan Yin Citta Vancouver Chapter.

It began with a video honoring Guan Yin Bodhisattva’s huge contributions to the world. Her great compassion and great mercy has been inspiring every Buddhist practitioner on the way of enlightenment. After that, videos introducing Guan Yin Citta Dharma Door and its founder Buddhist Master Jun Hong Lu were presented, then followed by Totem Inquiry videos and clips from Master Jun Hong Lu’s past Dharma Talks. Brother Shi, a doctor with many years of medical experience, said, “As a doctor, I do believe treating patients is only one of the primary jobs of a doctor, caring for how people feel is also important. Especially in the case that patients’ disease could not be identified or treated, they have to endure suffering and anxiety. To help them deal with the situation, I always recommend them to resort to Buddhism. There was one of my patients, who had severe headache and there was no known cause. I asked him to practice reading Great Compassion Mantra 108 times every day. And then after a period of practice, his headaches disappeared without any treatment.” Another girl shared how she found her lost dog by making big vow of not eating animals killed on her behalf and never eating seafood for the rest of her life. Twelve hours after the vow was made, her dog was luckily found. These miracles witness the greatness of Buddhism and power of faith.

Every year, worldwide Buddhist friends celebrate Guan Yin Bodhisattva’s Enlightenment Day on the 19th day of the sixth Lunar Month. This year, when the magnificent day falls on July 31, 2018, Guan Yin Citta Dharma Door Buddhist Association of Italy, Milan branch put on a successful vegetarian event and organized the “Offering the First Incense” to commemorate Guan Yin Bodhisattva’s dignified virtues and contributions to the world. They also used this opportunity to celebrate Buddhist Master Jun Hong Lu’s birthday in August, wishing him remain longer in this world and widely spread Buddha’s teachings.

The “Offering the First Incense” was held at the start of July 31th from 0:00am to 2:00am. More than 200 Buddhist friends from all over Italy and other regions attended this sacred ceremony. They extended their greetings and sincere gratitude to the Guan Yin Bodhisattva for her great compassion and great mercy to alleviate all sentient beings from suffering. Especially in the Dharma Ending Age, without the help and blessings from Guan Yin Bodhisattva, many people would have been manipulated by fate, sank in adversity and slacked in prosperity. The wisdom of Buddhism saved millions of people lost in darkness and lights up their ways to liberation and bliss. After offering the incense, many Buddhist friends stayed at the Guan Yin Hall and performed recitations till the noon. Volunteers from Guan Yin Citta Milan Chapter meticulously prepared various kinds of delicious vegetarian food to treat the Buddhist friends staying at Guan Yin Hall, and express thanks for their commitment to the practice and dedication to the Dharma protection.

In the evening, Guan Yin Citta Milan hosted a free vegetarian feast at the restaurant of Ristorante Junyue from 19:00pm to 21:00pm. Over 500 Buddhists friends, both new and old, attended this gathering. Started with the video clip from Master Jun Hong Lu’s Dharma Talk, all the attendees learned together the importance of gratitude in Buddhist practice. Master Jun Hong Lu said, “As a Buddhist practitioner, it’s essential for us to practice gratitude. Everyone should be grateful for everything that happens in life. If we can reside in gratitude, our souls will be pure, and then our state of consciousness will be getting closer to the ones of Buddha and Bodhisattva. In this case, even we are now in the human realm, we can be freed from the cycle of reincarnation and ascend into higher realms. Thus, we need to be more grateful to life, know more about this world, and then gain the true understanding about the purpose of being a human in this world. When we celebrate Guan Yin Bodhisattva’s Enlightenment Day, we can also practice gratitude, expressing the extraordinary veneration for Guan Yin Bodhisattva from the depths of our hearts.”

During the event, two Buddhist friends told their heartfelt stories about how their lives changed by practicing Buddhism. Brother Du shared that he successfully obtained the long-term residence permit in Italy through the practice of the “Three Golden Gems” in Guan Yin Citta Dharma Door. In the meantime, he got rid of lawsuit which had bothered him for a long time. And his symptoms of Parkinson were gone, which indicated he is fully recovered from Parkinson’s disease. Brother Hu shared how Guan Yin Citta Dharma Door benefits her whole family during her three years of practice. Not only her father recovered from cancer, but also she herself gained significant health improvement. Some of her chronic diseases disappeared without any treatment. She said, “Practicing Buddhism is the ultimate way to alleviate from suffering. Guan Yin Citta Dharma Door is really effective and beneficial in changing people’s lives.”

While attendees enjoyed their food and drinks, amazing performances were presented by local Buddhist friends and youngsters. Dozens of kids performed the recitation of Great Compassion Mantra in front all the audience. Their beautiful sound was like the melody from the sky, sweet and lively, touched everyone’s heart. At the end, all the Buddhist friends extended their best wishes to Master Jun Hong Lu, wishing him happy birthday and good health.

ACBRC-Melbourne Branch Celebrates Guan Yin Bodhisattva’s Enlightenment Day with Free Vegetarian Feast

20180729-Melbourne-Guan-Yin-Citta-Vegetarian-6

To celebrate the Enlightenment Day of Guan Yin Bodhisattva, the Australian Chinese Buddhist Research Centre (ACBRC) Melbourne Branch held a large scale Free Vegetarian Food Tasting Event at the Preston City Hall, Melbourne on July 29, 2018. Holding an event on such a magnificent day, not only brings awareness of the contributions by the Guan Yin Bodhisattva, but also provides a great opportunity to increase people’s understanding about Buddhism and its concept of making the right food choices for both physical and spiritual enhancement.

Early in the morning before the event started, many people outside the City Hall witnessed a beautiful double rainbow in the sky. It’s considered as the manifestation of the blessings from Guan Yin Bodhisattva and a good omen for the day. The rainbow brought great joy to the volunteers and filled their hearts with bliss. To ensure the smooth running of the event, every volunteer devoted themselves to the preparation and worked hard with energy. At 10:30am, after wrapping up the preparation, many guests and Buddhist friends began arriving. In a short of time, the city hall was filled with people and turned into a lively place full of laughter and happiness. It is estimated that over 100 volunteers involved in the work and over 500 people attended. The total number of attendance surpassed 600.

Before the event officially started, the guests and Buddhist friends first watched Master Jun Hong Lu’s Totem Reading videos. They were fascinated by Master Jun Hong Lu’s great spiritual power and the ability to reveal one’s past, present and future. In the meantime, they were shocked by the miserable experiences and suffering of the people in the videos. The Totem Reading clearly demonstrated the Law of Cause and Effect, and showed everything happens for a reason and nothing happens by chance. The videos deeply knocked on the doors of attendee’s hearts and made them realize the importance of Buddhist practice.

At 11:20am, the event officially started with the delivery of a brief welcome speech by the host. Then the Head of the ACBRC Melbourne Branch, Sam Ding, thoroughly introduced the organization and all kinds of activities. As a non-profit Buddhist charity organization, the Branch has been dedicating to giving back to the local communities and committing to the promotion of traditional Chinese culture, Buddhism and Vegetarianism with the goal of improving people’s overall well-being.

Shortly after the introduction, all the attendees watched Master Jun Hong Lu’s Dharma Talk clips and learned the nutritional benefits and spiritual impact of the vegetarian diet on people’s lives. Many attendees were related to Master Jun Hong Lu’s words and deeply impressed by his approachable teachings. The subjects of most Dharma talk were taken from everyday life and were treated with a touch a humour. After video watching, some Buddhist practitioners enthusiastically shared their vegetarian experiences and the changes in their lives by performing recitations of Buddhist scriptures, making vows and practicing life liberation. These testimonials of miracles demonstrated the greatness of Buddhism and actual benefits that Buddhist practitioners received from cultivation. Then some youth volunteers performed a play “The Story of Amoti Guan Yin” on stage and received great applause from audience.

Since the theme of the event was “Free Vegetarian Food Tasting”, enjoying delicious food was definitely one of the biggest highlights of the day. Luckily for the guests, there was everything they needed from curries and soup to comforting fried noodles and hearty salads. Over 100 kinds of dazzling dishes surprised the guests and satisfied everyone’s taste buds. Most incredibly, all the delicious food was prepared and made by the volunteers from ACBRC Melbourne Branch, who devoted a great deal of time and energy to the food preparation and rewarded high praise from guests. After tasting the food, many attendees were amazed at the good taste and the balanced nutrition of the meals.

Even one of the staff working at the Preston City Hall marvelled at the volunteers and the work they accomplished. He said, “I’ve never seen a team with such high-performance and good collaboration. Everyone committed to every part of the event with passion and devotion. Their great teamwork and modest attitude guaranteed the smooth running and the success of this event.” The staff then joined the video watching session, and was blown away by Master Jun Hong Lu’s teachings. He took the initiative to talk to the volunteers and requested several books to read for further study.

Around 2:30pm, the celebration came to an end, whereas many people still immersed in the joy and were feeling invigorated and energetic. It is an event not only delighted the senses, but also fed the spirit and enlarged people’s understanding about Buddhism. Hopefully, more beings will start the practice of Buddhism and applying the wisdom of Dharma into their life to change their destinies.
