Melbourne’s second Guan Yin Temple officially opened to the public at 10 am Sunday, 28th July 2019. Conveniently, located on 221 King Street, in the heart of Melbourne CBD, only 5 minutes walking distance from the Southern Cross Railway Station. The Opening Ceremony was indeed memorable and auspicious, with bright golden sunlight shined through the windows and filled the entire praying hall.

Many volunteers and Buddhist friends gathered at the new Guan Yin Temple as early as 7:30 am, full of joy and anticipation. The Australian Chinese Buddhist Association Melbourne Branch was privileged to have three Buddhist monks joined the Opening Ceremony and hosted the Blessing Ceremony.

The Buddhist monks and practitioners recited Buddhist scriptures in the chorus as part of the Blessing Ceremony. Buddhist monks and practitioners worshipped the majestic statues of Guan Yin Bodhisattva, Nanjing Bodhisattva, Tai Sui Bodhisattva, Guan Di Bodhisattva, Zhou Tsang Bodhisattva and Guan Ping Bodhisattva with utmost respect and gratitude.

On completion of the Blessing Ceremony, volunteers and Buddhist practitioners celebrated, sharing their joy and learnings over a nutritious vegetarian lunch prepared by volunteers.

Guan Yin Temple is a spiritual home for Buddhist practitioners to find out their inner strength and true self with the purification of minds. It is also a place for them to offer their respect and prayers to the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas. The opening of Melbourne City Guan Yin Temple would facilitate the connection of Buddhist practitioners living in the CBD, Northern and Western suburbs of Melbourne.   We hope that with the establishment of the new Guan Yin Temple, more lives will be touched, and more people will be able to cultivate the proper Buddhist way of life through the guidance and teachings of Master Jun Hong Lu.

The new Temple will be managed by volunteers, opening daily to the public from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm on Mondays to Fridays. On the weekends, 10:00 am to 10:00 pm on Saturdays and from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm on Sundays.
