The Guan Yin Citta Buddhist Practice Center in Cambodia is located at its capital city of Phnom Penh. The center has provided a spiritual home for the people of Cambodia, and consists of predominantly believers of Buddhism to find out their inner strength and true self with the purification of minds through the systematic Buddhist practices of the Guanyin Citta Dharma Door. As the founder of Guan Yin Citta Dharma Door, Buddhist Master Jun Hong Lu has devoted himself fully in transforming people’s lives and to carry out Guan Yin Bodhisattva’s mission to help people alleviate from suffering. Through his radio programs at 2OR Australia Oriental Radio (2OR) and books, he advocates “to ceasing from evil, to do only good, and to purify the mind”. His inspiring teachings and earnest practice have won him many awards, accolades and respect from Buddhist practitioners around the world.

Although the Guanyin Citta Buddhist Practice Center in Cambodia has not been established for a very long time, with the guidance of the world-renowned Buddhist Master Jun Hong Lu, Guan Yin Citta Buddhist Practice in Cambodia has held a successful Life Liberation and Free Vegetarian Tasting Event in Cambodia’s capital, Phnom Penh.

Before the event, many volunteers have worked diligently to prepare for the upcoming Life Liberation and Vegetarian event. As with the saying, “Many hands make light work”, the spirit of unity and collaboration of many volunteers have resulted in the smooth planning and flowing of the actual event. During the preparation, it can be seen that all the volunteers were very happy and joyful in carrying out their tasks and this has translated into an event which was filled with an atmosphere that was full of love and compassion.

It was a beautiful morning with a clear blue sky, and many people have gathered at the pier before they set out to complete this noble activity of Life Liberation. The Life Liberation, which is one of the “Three Golden Practices” of Guan Yin Citta Dharma Door, is to release animals, especially those that are destined to be slaughtered. There are also immeasurable merits that can be derived from the practice of life liberation as it prevents pain and suffering from being inflicted on the animals as well as promotes generosity and compassion within us. Although it may be difficult for non-believers to fathom, there were countless documented benefits of life liberation to the people who performed the kind act ranging from attaining longevity and health, resolving interpersonal conflicts, being free from violence or disasters to fulfilling the wishes of the people who performed the life liberation. Many fish were released on that day, and it can be seen that the fish were jumping with joy and gratitude as they embraced their newfound freedom.

Another highlight followed the life liberation event for the day was a free vegetarian event. This free vegetarian event was attended by hundreds of people from all walks of life. There were many delicious and mouth watering vegetarian dishes that were prepared by the volunteers.

Before the start of the free vegetarian event, the guests were warmly welcomed by the host. There were other programs throughout the event which included the sharing of the benefits of adopting a full vegetarian diet into our daily lives as well as sharing of testimonials by the practitioners of Guan Yin Citta Dharma Door.

The guests were immersed in an emotional roller coaster when some of the practitioners have shared about the challenges and adversities that they were facing before they found Guan Yin Citta Dharma Door. They talked about how their lives have been transformed through the diligent application of the “Three Golden Practices” of Guan Yin Citta Dharma Door, that is, reciting Buddhist sutras, practicing life liberation and making vows, that. Buddhist books and materials were handed out thoughout the event, and many people have also taken the opportunity to ask questions and to seek a deeper understanding of the Guan Yin Citta Dharma Door practices.

The fine vegetarian cuisines served on that day received great feedback from the guests and made them more aware and conscious that vegetarian food can indeed provide a healthy meatless alternative to meals without the need to inflict pain and suffering to animals.

All in all, the life liberation and free vegetarian event in Cambodia was a success. Hopefully, with the new knowledge and wisdom gained from the event, many more people in Cambodia will make the right decision to start adopting a new lifestyle which is inclusive of the healthy and compassionate vegetarian diet as well as to continue seeking deeper knowledge and understanding about Buddhism to improve their health and well-being.
