Free Vegetarian Food Tasting Event in Flushing, New York to celebrate the Dragon Boat Festival 2018

Last Saturday, June 16th, 2018, a large scale Free Vegetarian Event was held successfully at Flushing, New York to celebrate the coming Dragon Boat Festival 2018. The event was hosted by Guan Yin Citta Dharma Door Buddhist Association New York Chapter. Around 1000 people attended this event and spent a wonderful time with the amazing vegetarian food and videos from Master Jun Hong Lu‘s Dharma Talk and Totem Inquiry.

Every year, on the 5th day of the 5th month of the traditional Chinese calendar, people celebrate the Dragon Boat Festival with elaborated decorated vessels, delicious glutinous rice dumplings wrapped in reed leaves and offerings. This is also a perfect time for Guan Yin Citta Dharma Door New York Chapter to propagate Buddhism and transmit love and compassion to more people. The event is also a great give back to the Flushing Chinese Community for its consistent support of Guan Yin Citta Dharma Door New York Chapter.

During the event, all the attendees watched the real case Totem Inquiries from Master Jun Hong Lu’s Dharma Talk. These video clips clearly showed how one’s own deeds bring one’s own results. Every action comes up with a consequence. In the videos, Master Jun Hong Lu told us, to avoid all evil, to cultivate good, and to cleanse our mind, is the right way to perform cultivation. The free distribution center was crowded with tons of people seeking advice on the solutions of their issues by performing Buddhist practice. They were eager to learn more about the Guan Yin Citta Dharma Door and the teachings from Master Jun Hong Lu. All the Buddhism books and DVDs were distributed for free. In the main hall, dozens of Buddhist children performed recitations of Heart Suture on stage to all the guests.

Volunteers from Guan Yin Citta Dharma Door New York Chapter exquisitely prepared a wide variety of vegetarian food for this event. There were hundreds of dazzling vegetarian foods on the table. The enthusiasm and good service are highly praised and appreciated. Additionally, vegetarian teaching video was arranged, with the hope that there will be more people enjoying vegetarian food and being able to learn to make healthy and delicious vegetarian food in the future.

At the end, in the late afternoon, many people spotted the gigantic iridescent, multi-hued clouds in the sky. They were so beautiful that left many people awed and thrilled. It’s a clear indication that Guan Yin Bodhisvatta was blessing everyone in the event. Wish more sentient beings receive the grace from Guan Yin bodhisattva, and there will be more people on the path of awakening and enlightenment.

Free Vegetarian Food Tasting at Guan Yin Hall, New York

Guan Yin Citta Dharma Door holds “Free Vegetarian Food Tasting” at Guan Yin Hall, New York, for giving back to communities.

On 13th August 2017, Sunday Afternoon, the reporter arrived at the location of Guan Yin Citta Dharma Door, the Guan Yin Hall in Brooklyn, New York. Later, the reporter has also visited the weekly hosting event of “Vegan Food Tasting”. Nearly 200 dharma friends coming from New York has attended the event.

More than dozens of volunteers have helped to share their views from Buddhism learning and how to put into practice, these including cultivating compassionate mind, treating people in kind way, and supporting to build a harmonious society as well.

The event was presented with Buddhism teaching books and pleasant gifts, and all of them are available for free. On the day, more than ten different types of delicious vegetarian foods were served to public which were well prepared by the dharma friends. In the event, the video sharing about Master Jun Hong Lu and his international contributions was played.

Esther Yang, one of the event’s organiser, said, “We are proud to take the initiative to make tasty and healthy vegetarian food accessible to our community members. As our patron, Master Jun Hong Lu, often remind us that we should always think of those in need. Our compassion should not only extend to our family members and neighbours, but also to other sentient beings such as animals and other living beings.” “Adopting a vegetarian diet is an effective way to cultivate our compassion,” added Ms Yang. Attendees included local overseas Chinese, successful young professionals, as well as the members of social elites from different sectors. The Guan Yin Citta Dharma Door speaks about the profound Buddhism in plain terms, it has over ten million followers around the world. Over the past few decades, Master Lu has been making continuous efforts to promote world peace and harmony, helping people to maintain wellbeing of the body and soul by using Chinese Buddhism teaching.

Since the establishment of Guan Yin Citta Dharma Door in New York, it has been committed to promote the essence of Chinese Buddhist culture and organised several philanthropic and Buddhist learning events during Chinese traditional festivals in Chinese Spring festival, Dragon festival, and the birth of lord Buddha.There were about 100 volunteers that had practiced the spirit of Lord Buddha and GuanYin Bodhisattva in the way of selfless dedication to serve the community, caring for the vulnerable groups, supporting the peace and harmony of the society.

On 16th July, Guan Yin Citta Dharma Door held the grand charity event “Free Vegetarian Food Tasting” at Flushing, New York for celebrating the birth of lord Guan Yin Bodhisattva. The aim of the event is to support philosophy of being vegetarian to keep healthy lifestyle, promote vegan diet, and Chinese culture of Buddhism. Apart from that, it is also the opportunity to give something back to the society, the event received warm and supporting responses from the community. On the day, about 2000 Chinese people from New Jersey, Philadelphia, even the distant location in Boston coming to attend the event.

Guan Yin Citta welcomed dharma friends with well-prepared delicious vegan food and the Buddhist learning materials. In very short, all the learning materials were taken out by the enthusiastic guests. This again shows that the compassionate philosophy of being vegetarian to keep healthy has already been recognised and supported among many people.Master Junhong Lu (Justice of Peace) is the president, director, founder of Australia Oriental Media Buddhist Charity Association. With extraordinary dedication and compassion, contribution to the world peace, he has received affirmation and respect from the United Nations and international community. Dharma Propagation in Philly Vegfest 2018, Guan Yin Citta Philadelphia Chapter

With the arrival of the splendid summer season in Philadelphia comes an abundance of festivals and events celebrating arts, culture and food. Philly Vegfest is one of them. The festival is Philadelphia’s premier celebration of vegan and whole-food-plant-based (WFPB) lifestyles. Vendors were selling veggie hot dogs, veggie burgers, and many varieties of vegan foods in promoting the importance of consuming less meat product. On June 9th, 2018, eleven brothers from Guan Yin Citta Philadelphia Chapter attended the Vegfest event, propagating Buddhism and spreading the Buddhist philosophy to more people.

It’s quite common today that people are suffering from various types of problems, such as the problems of relating to each other, problems of dealing with anger, fights and disputes. People are feeling these problems more but are unable to find solutions for them, particularly on a personal level, in terms of their emotions and minds. That’s why Guan Yin Citta Dharma Door should be introduced to more people, regardless their ages and races, helping them alleviate from suffering and pain.

The propagation is quite successful, with almost 1000 flyers passed out in 4 hours and quite a number of books distributed for free. All the brothers worked hard together as a team to transmit the compassion, love and inner peace to all the people passing by. The Dharma music played on site and the beautifully designed banners with lotus flowers on them are quite attracting and drew many people’s attention. They stopped by and chatted happily with brothers from Guan Yin Citta Philly Chapter. Some brothers were kindly explaining questions to them, such as what Guan Yin Citta Dharma Door is, who Master Junhong Lu is and where the Chapter is located in Philly, etc. Some event attendees were fascinated by the fact that knowing Master Lu has the ability to tell one’s past, present, and future through Totem enquiry. Some brothers were busily distributing flyers and brochures to let people know the Dharma Talk in the coming October in Manhattan NY.

London Guan Yin Citta Charity Foundation brought workshop to Oxford

On the 8th Aug 2017, a group of 15 volunteers form Guan Yin Citta UK departed from London to perform a mini workshop in the centre of Oxford. The team leader explained that, “Oxford is known worldwide as the home of the University of Oxford, the oldest university in the English-speaking world. Students and professors made up majority of the population. Volunteers had received a couple of emails in the past regarding about how to practicing Buddha’s teachings to cope with pressures and problems. “ We feel the necessity to explain in person” she said. “Our main subject this time is to explain to people learning to make pressures that may come from study and work under control, anger management and normally associated insomnia, we tend to over stressed under pressure and tight deadline, hence the energy within our body will not flow smoothly, step out and walk away from the problem temporarily, being compassion and caring for the others is one the greatest way to redirect your focus and provide you with new perspectives towards issues and problems that puzzled you.”

One of the senior member of the team said “Practicing Dharma is the supreme method for improving the quality of our human life because the quality of life depends not upon external development or material progress, but upon the inner development of peace and happiness. We adhered to Master Jun Hong Lu’s teaching- Founder of Guan Yin Citta Dharma Door, not because we admire his wisdom and compassion, but for the effectiveness and practicality of his teaching and philosophy.” The spokesperson said “We are looking forwarding to coming to Oxford again, the feedback we have received is the main power and strength to keep us going, sharing with people about our stories and make them feel hope in life is really rewarding.”

2017 London’s Vegetarian Event

On the 30th April 2017, the second London Vegetarian Event was held jointly by the UK Guan Yin Citta– Buddhist Charity Foundation- and the London Chinese Community at Leicester Court, London. Among the attendees taking part were representatives from the Chinese community, including the London Chinese Community, the UK Heilongjiang Association, London Health Qigong Association, and many more.

UK Guan Yin Citta started the event to share information about a vegetarian lifestyle, that is, eating a plant-based diet. The event also featured a variety of different vegetarian dishes and presentations, speakers on topics including science-based health benefits of being vegetarian, first-hand vegetarian experiences, healthcare, practising Buddhism, benefits to mankind, and more.

The event has received an overwhelming response and participants were interested in knowing more about the UK Guan Yin Citta as well as the benefits of a vegetarian diet. The Charity Foundation expressed thanks and gratitude to those who participated and helped to make this a successful event.

2017 London Dharma Propagation Activities

It was such a sunny and lovely day on the 11th of June 2017. We had 16 members of our charity around a table and a couple of chairs in Leicester Square, London. Apart from constantly adhering to our Charity’s objectives on the internet, we are also trying to build up our local presence through setting up a small workshop and distributing flyers on the streets on a regular basis. We offer free materials in two languages, as well as free food and drink to anyone who is interested. Our fully trained and friendly volunteers are prepared to answer questions from the public.

It was a very fulfilling day and we were really excited to have people approach us, reading through our materials and asking questions about how to invite and practice Buddhism on a daily basis. We were delighted to be asked how Buddhism can change and improve people’s lives and more importantly the community, and querying about what other workshops might be offered by our charity. We really appreciated every little help and the participation from our communities. After every event, we always have a few new faces dropping by our Temple. There is nothing more rewarding than witnessing them beginning their spiritual path with Buddha and Guan Yin Bodhisattva. Wishing that Buddha’s blessing will be with you all.
