Donation to frontline personnel in Malaysia

Donation to frontline personnel in Malaysia

The Malaysian Guan Yin Citta Practice Center Association donated epidemic prevention products including protective masks, disposable protective shoe covers, gum boots, bottled water and instant noodles, to various government departments in Malaysia. The Association had committed to supply 100,000 protective masks to frontline personnel in the fight against the epidemic.

The Association is very grateful for the selfless dedication of all front-line staff (medical nurses, police, soldiers, journalists, supermarket employees).

Nov 29, 2019 | Global News

On 28 November 2019, volunteers from the Guan Yin Citta Dharma Door, Singapore Branch and the Cambodian Branch visited the Children’s Hospital of Phnom Penh, Cambodia, and made a charitable donation on behalf of the Buddhist Master Jun Hong Lu. The hospital provides free medical care to children in Cambodia and treats between 1,500 to 2,000 critically ill children each day.

In the afternoon, the volunteers also visited the Future Light Orphanage in Phnom Penh. The orphanage is home to more than 60 children. The children’s education is funded by the orphanage up to the completion of High school. The volunteers represented the Buddhist teacher Jun Hong Lu and donated living essentials to the Orphanage, although it was only a small act of kindness, the children were very happy. Together with the volunteers, they said “gratitude to Guan Yin Bodhisattva and Grandpa Lu”.

The day trip was, although very brief, the volunteers felt deeply emotional and reminded them of their task of bringing the Buddhist teaching to help relieve more people who are in need.

Donation of Medical Equipment to Hubei Province

Donation of Medical Equipment to Hubei Province

Australia Oriental Media Buddhist Charity Association and its audience members donated the second batch of medical equipment to the epidemic area of Hubei province.

On March 2, the second batch of professional medical equipment, including medical goggles and surgical masks, values at AU$20,000, will be sent to China to support its local hospitals and medical effort. The supplies have been donated by the Australia Oriental Media Buddhist Charity Association (AOMBCA) and some 150 of its audience members.

When disaster struck, support came from all sides. The coronavirus outbreak in Wuhan and other places touched the hearts of the majority of overseas Chinese. The audience of Australia Oriental Media Group in Australia is always concerned about the motherland, and actively responds to and participates in the charitable donation activities organised by the AOMBCA.

To alleviate the shortage of local medical supplies in Hubei, the AOMBCA Executive Board had specially arranged and purchased professional medical equipment from all over Australia.  The first and second batch of medical supplies values at AU$20,000 and having been donated by the AOMBCA and its 150 audience members have been sent to China, in order to ease the urgent need of the local medical supplies and to support the local rescue efforts.

Mr Lu Jun-Hong, JP, Chairman of AOMBCA and the board of directors of AOMBCA expressed their gratitude to the audience representatives who participated in the donation. Audience members of Australia’s Oriental Media Group said that although they are overseas, they miss their compatriots dearly when their home country is in need of help. They hope they can help their native country to tide over the difficulties in a modest effort and to express their patriotism. Go Wuhan!

Free Vegetarian Carnival at Preston City Hall 2019 to commemorate Guan Yin Bodhisattva’s Enlightenment Day

Free Vegetarian Carnival at Preston City Hall 2019 to commemorate Guan Yin Bodhisattva’s Enlightenment Day

Volunteers of the Australian Chinese Buddhist Association Melbourne Branch had started gathering around the Preston City Hall even before 8:30 am on a beautiful Sunday morning of the 21st July 2019. These volunteers were there for a reason, that is to transform the Preston City Hall into an amazing place with a memorable experience for the guests who were attending the Free Vegetarian Carnival in commemoration of the Guan Yin Bodhisatva’s Enlightenment Day. The Guan Yin Bodhisattva’s Enlightenment Day is one of the three important dates apart from the Guan Yin Bodhisattva’s Birthday and Renunciation Day that Buddhists from all over the world celebrate.  These days are very auspicious as there are powerful positive energy fields present during these days.

Under the leadership of Master Jun Hong Lu, who is the Chairman of the Australia Oriental Media Buddhist Charity Association (AOMB), this large scale Free Vegetarian Event at Preston City Hall was organised to honour the sacrifice and unconditional spirit of compassion of the Great and Compassionate Guan Yin Bodhisattva for all sentient beings. Master Jun Hong Lu who is also the founder of the Buddhist practice, Guan Yin Citta Dharma Door, with 10 million followers around the world have been working tirelessly to propagate Buddhism as well as to advocate for the development of the Vegetarian lifestyle, environmental protection and world peace.

The early birds have started arriving at the venue as early as 10:15 am. The total guests coming to this Free Vegetarian Carnival event was estimated to be about 500 people, which was much higher compared to last year’s attendance.

The Master of Ceremony for the event welcomed the attendees at 11:15 am and was followed by a short speech and introduction made by Sam Ding who is the Head of the Australian Chinese Buddhist Association Melbourne Branch. He had also briefly outlined what was in store for the attendees for the rest of the day. This was followed by the video about Guan Yin Bodhisattva (The Universal Gate Chapter of the Lotus Sutra).
The next program on the agenda was the testimonial sharing by Ms Yuechang Chen. Ms Chen had shared on how his son had managed to get the full scholarship from a well-sought after private high school in Melbourne after diligently practising the three Golden Practices of Guan Yin Citta Dharma Door, that is, Reciting Buddhist sutras, Performing Life Liberation and Making a Vow.

The guests were then entertained by the choir performance by the ACBRC Youth Group before another testimony shared by Ms Weng. It was indeed eye-opening for the guests to learn about the miracles that are happening to the followers of Guan Yin Citta Dharma Door practitioners and how through the diligent cultivation and following the three Golden Practices of Guan Yin Citta Dharma Door can lead to life transforming miracles.

Next, Ms Jin had shared some brief insights about Buddhism, the law of Karma (cause and effect) and how by cultivating compassion and wisdom practitioners can overcome major challenges, recover from major illnesses that the western medical has no known cause nor cure. This was followed by the video introduction of Guan Yin Citta Dharma Door and Master Jun Hong Lu before the guests break for lunch.

The main focal point for this event was the comprehensive assortment of delicious vegetarian dishes that were served on that day. These appetizing vegetarian dishes were mostly diligently prepared and contributed by the volunteers. There were more than 100 different types of vegetarian dishes offered on that auspicious day. After savoring the food, many attendees were impressed with the creativity, high nutritional value and most importantly, the great tasting and flavoursome vegetarian dishes that were served on that day.

While the vegetarian dishes were being served to the guests, videos of Master Jun Hong Lu’s totem enquiries were played at the background. The guests were fascinated by Master Jun Hong Lu’s ability to tell one’s past, present and future through Totem inquiry. After watching the videos, many people came to realise the importance of the law of Karma and how the application of this universal law can explain many events that happened in our lives.

While lunch was served, we had the chance to speak to one of the staff of the City of Darebin who was helping with the setup of the venue, Ms Shirley from Fiji. She was truly amazed at the teamwork and selfless contribution of the volunteers to make the event running smoothly. She was asking how much was the cost to attend this event but was truly surprised to find out that this vegetarian event was offered free to the public in the spirit of compassion. This event had triggered her to want to incorporate more vegetarian dishes into her daily life, and she was interested in getting hold of more recipes on how great tasting vegetarian dishes can be prepared.

During the break, we had also managed to chat with some of the guests who came from many different countries like Alonso who was from Mexico, Desiree who came from South Africa, Finn (Ireland), Kristen and Goh (Malaysia) and Lakshmi (India). All of them had given very positive feedback about the event. Many guests also took the opportunity to enquire more about Buddhism and the practices of the Guan Yin Citta Dharma Door at the information booths that were setup at the back of the hall.

The Free Vegetarian Carnival event at the Preston City Hall came to an end at around 2:30 pm. There were smiles on everyone’s faces as all of them were satisfied with the healthy and nutritious food as well as the programs that had been planned for that day. Most people who were present that day also brought home something that will stay on with them, that is, the new knowledge gained from the learning and sharing of Buddhism practices. Hopefully, many of them will continue to acquire and seek a deeper understanding of Buddhism and use this knowledge to transform their lives for the better.

Over the past ten months, Guan Yin Citta Dharma Door Buddhist Practice Center in Singapore, a charity led by Buddhist Master Jun Hong Lu, has distributed free vegetarian food packages to low income families around Lengkok Bahru district in Redhill. The most recent endeavor was on October 21, 2018, and volunteers were positively buzzing with excitement. Each time, there were nearly 50 volunteers involved and 900 packages of nutritious vegetarian food distributed to 350 households for free.

Working with local communities, Guan Yin Citta Singapore has been giving kindness and support to these needy seniors. The charity program aims to promote vegetarian life style to local residents and help needy households have access to more nutritious vegetarian diets. Master Jun Hong Lu, the founder of Guan Yin Citta Dharma Door, advocates for vegetarianism as it can develop compassion in one’s heart and change a person’s life for the better. As the Guan Yin Citta Buddhist Practice Center in Singapore is so close to the Redhill area, it’s a good opportunity to serve the community and spread Master Lu’s Buddhist teachings in the district.

Residents received complimentary packages of vegetarian food expressed their gratitude to volunteers for their continuous support for the community. Especially for some of the elders, who are eager to adopt a vegetarian lifestyle, but limited by the physical mobility, their need to deliver food to their doors has been fully met. Meanwhile, the regular care from volunteers warms their hearts and gives them hope and spiritual sustenance. With the genuine caring and assistance, some volunteers handed out some Buddhist learning materials and Master Jun Hong Lu’s books to the residents, introducing them the benefits of Buddhist practice. The volunteers also invited them to visit Guan Yin Citta Buddhist Practice Center for more information.

Guan Yin Citta Buddhist Practice Center in Singapore offers daily a free vegetarian buffet with a wide selection of dishes, soups and desserts. Every year before the Dharma Talk by Master Jun Hong Lu in May and the large scale Vegetarian Tasting Event in November, the volunteers normally widely distribute flyers to promote Guan Yin Citta Dharma Door and raise people’s awareness of the importance of Buddhist practice.

The food distribution program is the practice of giving and every volunteer has been honored to be part of such meaningful activity with a good purpose, sowing the seeds of kindness in others and building up trust between each other. Over the last ten months, the volunteers have become acquainted with some of the residents. In turn, they have begun to affectionately term the volunteers as the ‘red shirt people’. Some of the volunteers even brought their children with them to take part in the activities, with the aim of teaching youth a lesson on giving. When interviewed, one of the young participants eagerly said, “I love seeing the smiles on their faces. It is only through events like this that we realize how true cliché can be—giving really is better than receiving!”

The altruistic and selfless acts of volunteers come from their aspiration for benefiting others. During these charity activities, they truly live in the essence of Buddhism and breathe in it with purity of mind and sincerity in action. They put Master Jun Hong Lu’s Buddhist teachings into practice—to be selfless and put the well-being of others above oneself. That is where life’s greatest joy comes from.

UK-GuanYinCitta-Fruit-Giveaway-5

Wisdom comes from a heart full of compassion. It is the compassion that leads to kindness and giving.

On August 7, 2018, around 4pm in the afternoon, volunteers from UK Guan Yin Citta Buddhist Charity Foundation organized a Free Fruit Giveaway activity at Charing Cross Station to transmit love and serve the community. The station is a central London railway terminal surrounded by Chinatown, Trafalgar Square and River Thames, acting as one of the busiest stations in UK to provide the majority of commuter and regional services to south-east London.

During the rush hour, crowds were ebbing and flowing like a tide in this area. Many people are busily running for their lives, exhausted and tired. Like the breeze in summer, giving fruits to these metro riders can not only boost their energy, but also bring them a sense of freshness and relaxation. All the volunteers from UK Guan Yin Citta were uniformly in the vibrant red color Polo T-shirts, passing out apples and oranges to the crowd with smiles. The fresh fruits attracted many people’s attentions and made it’s easier to build a conversation between volunteers and pedestrians. Many people received fruits expressed their gratitude to volunteers and UK Guan Yin Citta for their amazing kindness and selfless giving. During the period of 45 minutes propagation, there were 230 apples distributed for free and quite a number of flyers handed out.

As a charity registered under the UK charity association, UK Guan Yin Citta has been committed to improving community harmony and promoting Buddhism. The Free Fruit Giveaway is just one of the good attempts to transmit compassion and love through the practice of selflessness and giving. These virtues are vigorously advocated by Buddhist Master Jun Hong Lu in his public talks and books. Moreover, UK Guan Yin Citta has been constantly promoting vegetarianism by regularly holding free vegetarian events in the communities.

In spite of the fact that volunteers’ good deeds may seem small, their ripple effects are essentially far-reaching and lasting. Master Jun Hong Lu has been emphasizing the Buddha’s teaching that “Cultivate all good, avoid all evils, and to purify one’s mind”. With the residence of loving kindness, compassion, joy and equanimity in every action and intention, the liberated state of mind and supreme bliss are not unattainable.

A Great Give Back to The Society — SUMMERICE 2017: Care package distribution to the needy families, Guan Yin Citta Singapore

SummeRICE 2017

With the dawn’s first thin thread of light made its way through the window, a new day had begun. Volunteers from Guan Yin Citta Singapore started the day with the busy preparation for the Care Package delivery. After checking the inventory and loading them into cars, all the volunteers were off to the destination, the Redhill in Singapore. This seemingly ordinary day soon turned to an extraordinary memory for the residents living in there.

On June 3, 2017, the Bukit Merah Community Center, collaborating with Guan Yin Citta Dharma Door Buddhism Practice Center in Singapore, organized a SummeRICE 2017 activity. It aims to provide support and comfort to low income families with the free distribution of Care Packages. Over 100 volunteers from Guan Yin Citta joined this operation. They worked together to do the packing and handed out packages with sincere greetings to the needy families. Every Care Package contained several kinds of dried food, which were convenient for long term use.

All the volunteers felt glad and honored to have such a good opportunity to serve the marginalized group in society. One volunteer remarked, “It is my honor to be able to assist the Community Center to do the good things for the residents in this district. As a Buddhist practitioner, I have benefited a lot from Guan Yin Citta Dharma Door. Buddhist Master Jun Hong Lu teaches us that unconditionally loving all the sentient beings is to love ourselves. Since the Guan Yin Hall is so close to the Redhill, we will try our best to service the community in the future and help more people.”

Another volunteer also commented that this was not her first time participating in the similar activities organized by Guan Yin Citta Practice Centre (Singapore). “All these years, the Guan Yin Citta Singapore has been dedicating to holding diversified activities and events with the integration of social responsibility. Normally, when the Mother’s Day is on its way, we’ll organize Flower arrangement class for both mothers and children, which can remind participants of the filial piety, a virtue of respect for one’s parent. During the Mid-Autumn Festival, we’ll organize activities to introduce traditional Chinese culture. Not to mention other big days, such as Dragon Boat Festival, Lantern Festival, Chinese New Year, etc.”

By applying Master Jun Hong Lu‘s teaching ‘benefiting others benefits oneself’ to practice, the volunteers’ self-devotion actions are remarkable and admirable. This operation demonstrates the Buddhist concept of selflessness, which provides an avenue to social awareness and engagement to the care of low income families. It also shows the act of giving is such a powerful benevolence to bring inner peace and joy. Spreading more love, kindness, and compassion into this world will reward an abundant life with happiness.

On June 23, 2018, a crowd of 10 thousand people attended the “Ricetta Milano” lunch at the Milano Sempione Park in Milan, Italy. As part of the “Together Without Walls” event, the multi-ethnic lunch was held with a 2.5km long table. Many immigrant associations and local organizations attended this event and prepared a wide variety of food for free tasting. It aims to boost cultural exchange and strengthen community ties. The city mayor, Giuseppe Sala, said, “I am very happy to see so many Chinese attending this gathering. Chinese food is my favorite. Milan is my motherland and I hope that this is also your motherland.”

As one of the most influential local organizations in Milan, Guan Yin Citta Dharma Door Buddhist Association of Italy was invited to attend this event. Volunteers from Guan Yin Citta brought dozens of delicious vegetarian dishes and distributed free to public. With a lot of heart and soul put into the promotion of Vegetarianism, the volunteers from Guan Yin Citta spent three days and two nights on the food preparation. Despite the hard work, everyone felt happy and satisfied to be able to prepare meals for so many people. One of the volunteers said, “I enjoyed the opportunity to put my time to good use. The volunteering experiences teach me to become more motivated and responsible, and I believe these experiences help a great deal in my Buddhist practice of giving which has been especially emphasized by Master Jun Hong Lu multiple times. “

As the world’s renowned Buddhist Master, Jun Hong Lu has been dedicating to the promotion of Buddhism and Chinese Culture. His Dharma Talks and Buddhism in Plain Terms teach us that giving is one of the essential preliminary steps of Buddhist practice. It is of prime importance in the mental purification. And it is the best weapon against greed. All the volunteers and Buddhist practitioners from Guan Yin Citta are following Master Jun Hong Lu’s teachings, volunteering their time and energy to give back to communities.

The dazzling vegetarian food attracted many attendees’ interests. The volunteers were busily introducing the benefits of vegetarianism to the people, ranging from increased energy, more desirable cholesterol levels, and more. Aside from these vital personal attributes, a lifestyle of non-animal ingredients has a very favorable impact on the environment. One of the attendees said, “I am incredibly impressed by young volunteers from your chapter who go vegetarian despite all of the barriers to doing so. The food you provided is delicious and I picked up so much health information relative to the vegetarian diet. Thank you so much!”

Miri, the second largest city in Sarawak, Malaysia, has been famous for its diversified National Parks and breathtaking sceneries. On June 6, 2018, the Miri Civic Center became the focus of attention. Many people were flocking to the Civic Center not for the good views, but for the diversified vegetarian cuisine and Dharma Talk videos from Master Jun Hong Lu. It’s such an inspiring event that many people felt the warmth of love and kindness permeated all over the place.

For years, the Guan Yin Citta Buddhist Association of Malaysian has been dedicating to the Buddhism propagation throughout the nation. Nearly 20 large scale free vegetarian tasting events have been held in different places of Malaysia. The Miri Brunei Vegetarian Tasting Event is just one of the series of events. Also it’s a good action to give back to the local communities.

On June 2, 2018, over 1,000 people attended the Miri Brunei Vegetarian Tasting Event. Volunteers with smiles were busily preparing meals for every guest. There were a wide range of Choices offered over hundreds of hot and cold food options, including dishes with Asian, Italian and French flavors. The featured dishes were vegetarian Italian traditional tomato meatballs, Taiwanese black fungus fried with eggs, Malay Rendang, fermented tofu, Burma salad, Malacca G rice ball, crispy golden brown whole wheat pastry and French buns, etc.

Meanwhile, video clips from Master Jun Hong Lu’s Dharma Talks were played in the main hall. People were fascinated by Master Jun Hong Lu’s ability to tell one’s past, present and future through Totem inquiry. After video watching, many people came to realize the importance of the Law of Cause of Effect. All the Totem inquiries cleared indicated how one’s own deeds bring one’s own results. Nothing happens by chance. Without knowing this Law deeply, people cannot understand Buddhism or move forward on the path of practice. Last but not least, a Lucky Draw Session was arranged at the end of the event. Several lucky guests walked away with prizes and happily immersed themselves in this amazing harvest.

This grand event was a huge success. It simply wouldn’t be possible without the help of 300 gracious volunteers from different places of Malaysia and Singapore, including Kuala Lumpur, Johor, Malacca, Ipoh, Kelantan, Pahang, East Malaysia, Brunei etc. Their generosity, compassion and dedications demonstrated some of the important qualities that a good Buddhist practitioner should have.
